Is totally awesome!  I roasted 2 pounds of coffee this afternoon after receiving your drum.

The first 2 pounds turned out near perfect! You have definitely taken home roasting to a new level.

The quality of your drum was exceptional. I must say the quality was far above what I had expected.

I can now look forward to roasting at home. I had been dreading roasting, because I could only do 1/3 cup batches before with my air roaster. It took me about 8-10 batches to roast enough for the Mrs. and I for the week.

Eureka!  2 pounds of Mocha Kadir at 500 degrees.  1st crack at 11m30s, cut back to 480 -  second crack at 14m - finish roast with a nice Full City + at 15m 30 sec. - no signs of divots.  Thanks for the suggestions.  It does baffle me though.  It seems that everything I read on the subject suggested that somewhere in the process I was too hot and that was what caused the divots - some suggested too fast into 1st crack - others suggested too hot (therefore too fast) going from 1st to 2nd.  Whatever it is, this seems like a nice profile.

    Thanks again Shane.

Every once in a while, the blind hog finds an acorn. Such was the case when Ron Kyle offered one of his RK Drums as a "Tradition" gift on the Sweet Maria's Homeroast mailing list. The Traditions are one-string-attached gifts where the giver offers some item(s) free including free delivery. Usually there is random choice involved in selection of the recipient. The only "string" is that the recipient is obligated to offer a Tradition of his own.

In Ron Kyle's tradition, he offered one of his custom-made RK Drums for coffee roasting. I WON! All I had to do was add my own gas grill and rotisserie. Ron sold these drums for $210 through his website.

First roast with my RK Drum was 16oz of Rwanda Masaka "Seven Lakes" from Sweet Maria's. I really like this coffee and had

Hard to believe I've been using my RK drum since 2004 and it is still as great as day one. In looking for information for a friend and having been away from the site for several years I was amazed to see the progress made. I saw the new drum latch and had to have it. It arrived last week but only got around to installing it today. I had to roast some almonds for some Custom Crafted chocolate I make.

I'm an engineer--the drum is a work of art and the motor and mounts are terrific and the whole kit is well thought-out and it makes GREAT COFFEE!  I've done several roasts using your suggested profile for 1lb batches and I'm getting the hang of it!  I will graduate to larger batches when I decide what kind of beans I want to order in quantity.  The only bad thin.g about this setup is that I want to roast all the time and you need lots of beans in your inventory to have all that fun!

Thanks for your great products, and even more for your superb customer service! Keep up the good work
